The City of Selma is accepting applications for an opening for Police Officer. Qualifications include: (a) High School Diploma or equivalent; (b) Basic Certification from T.C.L.E.O.S.E.; (c) Must have Valid Texas Driver's License. Applicants are subject to pre-employment screening/testing, including but not limited to: thorough background investigations, psychological, physical, and drug testing. Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, as well as Holidays. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. We are now offering a modified lateral transfer program. Any applicant who is hired and has prior Police Experience will be given credit for years of service which will be transformed into Step Grade Increases at a rate of 2 to 1. For example, officers coming to us with 8 years experience will start at Pay Grade Step 4 instead of Step 1. Experience must be street or investigations and not detention or jail time. Applicant must pass all 4 events of the Physical Agility Test as well to qualify.
