May 1, 2021 General Election (Canceled)

The next scheduled General Election for the City of Selma will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021.  The purpose of the election is to elect Councilmembers to Place 4, Place 5, and Place 6 to serve two-year terms.

The City Secretary's Office will accept applications from qualified persons interested in running for any of the above-referenced places during the filing period designated by state law, as shown below.  During the filing period, the City Secretary's Office will receive completed and notarized applications at the City of Selma Municipal Complex, located at 9375 Corporate Dr. Selma, Texas 78154, during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding City holidays. Applications will not be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on February 12, 2021.

On 03/11/2021, the City Council of the City of Selma canceled the May 2021 General City Election. The City of Selma City Secretary certified in writing that no person has made a declaration of write-in candidacy, and that each candidate on the ballot is unopposed for election to office.

Pursuant to Section 2.053 Texas Elections Code, the City Council declared the candidates of place 4, 5, and 6 elected to office and shall be issued certificates of election following the time the election results would have been canvassed.
